To that end, we actively partner with Berks Connections/Pretrial Services (BCPS) to provide second-chance opportunities to individuals in need. BCPS is a local nonprofit organization that provides pretrial services and reentry programming for individuals involved in the justice system, as well as for their children and loved ones. In particular, the Reentry Works program to be operated by BCPS will be designed to help clients become reliable and successful employees and help to address issues of unemployment and underemployment of former inmates returning to the community. New Castle offers opportunities to nonviolent offenders.
Another audience New Castle prioritizes connecting with is the future generation of our workforce, which we do by partnering with Career Ready Berks. The program is an online platform that brings career information and opportunities to the 70,000 students in Berks County. We are just one of 224 providers offering nearly 350 experiences, inviting students interested in the landscaping field to visit us onsite, allowing them direct exposure to the industry. We help to show them the real day-to-day operations they may experience should they focus their career aspirations here.
Why are these efforts important to us? It’s simple, really. We care about people and our community.
We invest in our employees, who we consider family, at New Castle. Safety and training are top priorities. Our New Castle Employee Progression Program is a 6-point evaluation process designed and tailored to employee development and promotion from within. We also invest in our local community as a team. We’ve happily supported organizations including the Animal Rescue League of Berks County, Habitat for Humanity of Berks County, KidsPeace, the United Way of Berks County, Berks Homeless Coalition, Helping Harvest, Dayspring Homes, Inc., Albright College, Out of the Darkness and Phoebe Ministries, to name just a few.
